This story is one for which I have neither a thoughtful response nor an easy emotion.
Is the world getting saner or no?
Is France now worried about oil supply?
Is Sarkozy a hombre?
I don't follow politics or news much, but this is quite a headline to wake up to on a Monday morning.

The truest words in the article are those of Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman:
“The use of such words creates tensions and is contrary to the cultural history and civilisation of France,” said Mohammad Ali Hosseini.
Indeed, ha ha ha! The idea of the US playing Good Cop on the international scene is far-fetched enough, but the idea that the Bad Cop is France is simply surreal. It's like Barney Fife has become Russell Crowe in LA Confidential.
The thing I like best about Sarkozy is that he takes the heat off Bush as some rogue crazyman. All those European journalists who produced headlines like this one (ironically preserved on an Iranian site) are finally realizing there's not some uniquely American brain disorder.
